The 2017–2018 National Hockey League season will be the 101th year of operation. Centennial celebrations continue with a record number of events scheduled. With the addition of new expansion team, the Vegas Golden Knights, 31 teams will now compete in a 82-game season. The Pittsburgh Penguins will raise their fifth Stanley Cup championship banner as they host the St Louis Blues on October 4th. Tampa will host today’s brightest stars in the NHL All-Star game on January 28th, 2018. The season will wrap up the on April 7th, with the Playoffs expected a few days later. The NHL kept social users chatting with over 20.4 million interactions for NBCSN for the first 6 months of 2017.
