The 2020 Major League Baseball season was delayed nearly four months and shortened from 162-game schedule to only 60-games due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As Opening Day 2021 season arrived on April 1, we saw 26 of the 30 teams take the field which produced a very exciting day for baseball.

According to Nielsen, ESPN’s 2021 Sunday Night Baseball viewership average was up 33% from the 2020 full season average. That means, Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN generated an average of 1.5 million viewers, compared to 1.1 viewers in 2020. Along with an increase in viewership of Major League Baseball, several key demos are experiencing double-digit audience increases, including P18-49 and P25-54, up 54% and 50% from 2020.

Major League Baseball reaches 66% of men with 76% being over the age of 35. Make sure you’re advertising your business on ESPN, FS1, TBS, and MLB Network if you want to reach the baseball viewers.
